108k. The service advisor said they don't see a lot of wheel bearings go out on the GX. $996 parts and labor. Luckily I purchased an extended warranty when I bought the vehicle and they covered it.

seems 25% of all cars on the road will be affected by this recall,
strange that when i type in my VIN into the following website, it tells me that my 2014 GX has no open recall.
did you guys try lookup the recall status of your GX?

IIRC... 12's went onto recall list as of 1/17 so we might see the following:

'13 - 1/18
'14 - 1/19
'15+ should be handled through 2019 according to Toyota document

At some point they will on on active recall list short of a few later build '17s.

taking so long for Lexus to handle the recall, meanwhile so many drivers have to live with the dangerous situation.

My Toyota dealer who does my loaner says 2011s are still due for September. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Question

I received a post card from Auto Airbag Settlement (www.autoairbagsettlement.com) regarding a class action lawsuit against Toyota, Lexus, Scion, Pontiac Vibe.

I'm required to do one of the following;
1. File a claim to receive payment during the first four years of settlement. The deadline to file a claim depends upon the recall or repair date of my vehicle
2. Exclude myself by Sept 25, 2017 if I do not want to be legally bound by the Settlement. .
3. If I do not exclude myself, I will release any claims I may have against Toyota and the Released Parties and receive certain benefits (see web page for details).

OK. I just want new Airbags to replace potentially defective airbags. I don't want money or be part of any lawsuit against Toyota. I don't want to be a hostile party against Toyota/Lexus.

I take it then if I do file a claim, an unknown amount of money will be awarded in lieu of airbag replacement? (meaning if I take the cash and then sell the GX without replacing the airbags, that I can then be legally accountable if at any time in the future which a subsequent owner becomes injured from a faulty airbag?)

I guess then I should exclude myself and wait for Lexus to contact me for airbag replacement?

Your recommendation please?

Thanks

In the GX it is just the front passenger airbag. This should be less than $1K and at worst 1-2 hours of labor. In the same boat I wouldn't even consider unless they were offering me like $3-4K or more.

So you're saying that you are excluding yourself from the lawsuit?

I should add that I have not yet received a recall notice from Lexus. I bought mine as a CPO about 6 months ago, so the GX has about 1.5 years of CPO warranty left..

Thanks

I haven't received anything but as a 2011 model year parts are supposed to be in next month for your vehicle. My 2012 is supposed to have the parts closer to the the end of the year. It would have to be a comfortable financial windfall for me to buy into one of these class action suits. It seems they just make the lawyers rich and leave you with a nominal amount hardly worth the time.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing (just a way to make lawyers rich), I'll contact my servicing dealer for info regarding the ETA of the replacement airbag.

Thanks
