Funny you mentioned that. Mine gave me a jump first time I started it and I noted to my sales rep it started rather high. I had not driven a V8 in a long time. I love it! Wakes me up in the morning.

This is not limited to Toyota made vehicles. Every vehicle I've owned does it, especially when it's cold outside and it has been sitting awhile. I would assume this is the case for most, if not all, modern gas vehicles.

As long as your not idling at 2000 RPM your golden. I have seen 1600 RPM startups without knowing temp on the GX460. Check youtube for some startup videos

Yes is normal. Cold or hot weather for the first time. Once the engine is hot. It will start up normally.

I've owned a lot of vehicles including other Lexus and this is a first for me. It goes against everything I know to have it immediately rev that high before the oil is fully circulating through the engine. I'm sure that is nothing to worry about, but it seems odd to me.

Indeed it is nothing to worry about. People in northern states are likely more used to this as it happens much more often in cold weather. As stated, this is not limited to Toyota/Lexus vehicles.

Same here, my vehicles will rev slightly higher when its cold outside and sitting overnight.
