Default Goodyear Assurance FuelMax

Anyone have these on their truck?

I bought a 2012 GX CPO a few weeks ago and they had these tires installed. On Friday I took them out for a spin on slushy roads while it was snowing (it wasn't deep... Just 3"-4" inches had fallen, roads semi plowed) and I have to say that neither myself or my husband were impressed. I spun out rather easily and overall did not have great traction. I'm a conservative experienced winter driver so it's not like I was driving like a maniac. The tires look nearly new. Not sure how many miles are on them offhand. Can anyone concur with this experience?

Anyway... I'm thinking about switching to the Michelin LTX that I've seen mentioned here. Is this the best performing all season tire in slippery conditions?

I haven't seen anyone here claim that there is a better tire for snow/all season. Ratings below are from tirerack.com and I trust this source.

Goodyear

Michelin

Typically a tire made for high fuel efficiency contains little tread and is a harder compound. The exact opposite that you want in a tire that goes through snow.

Know whats on your car before you go driving around....that's how accidents occur.

Thank you. ^^ that's exactly why I drove it directly to a deserted parking lot at my first opportunity before taking it anywhere else. It took about 13 seconds to realize these tires would not work for my climate.

Ha, I have this mental picture of you just doing doughnuts in a parking lot. Nope..these tires won't work! lol

You'll be able to put them back on in the spring, but in all honesty, I'd try to sell them and put a nice set of meaty all seasons on.

^^ lol. Pretty much!! When you are trying to spin it's good times. When you are trying to go straight and your rear swings out 90 degrees, not so much. I have to say 2nd start is awesome.

Now I have to convince my other half that we need to replace the tires asap. I regularly drive around with a car full of kids and I want as much grip as I can get on an all season

Question.... Do those of you with a second set of tires also have a 2nd set of rims to simply the switch outs?

I put Michelin Defenders on to replace the OEM Bridgestones and they have been fantastic! They have a very good rating in snow too. The rain driving has been great, and so has plain dry.

These are the tires replacing the MS2s

Complications with the tire pressure monitor.
