Are there features/adjustments we should be aware of to make our to be purchased GX 460 (2016) ride as smooth as possible? .... .wheel size, comfort setting, tires, etc.?

Thanks in advance. FYI, we are not sophisticated when it comes to vehicles (currently drive an older model Infiniti G35X, and are ready for a smoother ride higher above the road).

Typically, choose highest profile tires (smallest rims/biggest tires), avoid sport package or large wheel options. Luckily on the GX there is only one wheel/tire package and the tires have a lot of sidewall.

Also, do not overinflate tires. Inflate cold pressure (while car has been sitting for at least a few hours) to the owner manual specs, usually found in the door jamb, but no more. Old people/hypermilers often overinflate tires making them harder but lowering their rolling resistance to save gas.

Since you haven't bought a GX yet, you could seek out a premium model with air suspension, and comfort mode should be a little more comfortable.

In reality though, if you buy a new GX, no matter the settings, or if your tires have a little extra pressure, etc., your ride will be extra cushy. Especially coming from a G35.

I would question why you would buy a GX over an RX or NX if a comfortable ride is that much of a concern to you. The GX & LX are trucks built on the foundation of offroad SUVs while the RX & NX are crossovers built on car foundations. Those crossovers will ride & feel more like cars than trucks & if a comfy and cushy ride is what you really want, I would look at those.

I specifically bought the GX because it has more of a truck feel, and coming from a 4Runner, it has a stiffer and more truck like ride to it. Granted, it is more cushy than the 4Runner, but it still has a truck-like ride to it.

I'm bringing this thread back to life because I have now driven a Pemium model (base suspension) and Luxury with the adjustable suspension. I had committed to a Premium coming in to a dealer in a couple of weeks. After driving a Luxury, I changed my order to that based largely upon the ride. I was VERY impressed with the ride of the Luxury. It does not ride like a truck based vehicle at all. But switching to the firmest setting gives better handling.

Some of you may have read my post on another thread saying I would not buy a Luxury because at that price point there were better options such as an X5. When I get the GX I will start a new thread and explain why I changed my mind.
