What size tires are those? Any suspension mods or trimming needed?

I knew someone would ask. Had to go out to the parking lot to take a photo.

I get a very small rub at full lock. Mechanic noticed it too. He checked it out and says it's not a problem. When he gets his GX470 this is the exact set up he's going with. Says it transforms the handling...in a good way!! No mods or trimming.

Haha..you already know someone will ask wheel/tire specs when you post, especially VOLKS! Thank you! I've been lurking on TacomaWorld and saw a vendor over there do a group buy on TE37SB in 17x8.5 with offsets and backspacing made specifically for for Taco/T4R/GX.

I added more photos of the GX and other vehicles to my album. This past weekend I had a Curt Hitch installed and took the Smittybuilt Beaver Tail hitch step off the FJ and put it on the GX.

Default Time for new tires

I have a little bit more than 35,000 miles on my 16 Lexus GX 460 premium And the tires are close to the trendline. What tires are a good replacement for the stock Michelin tires? I have been underwhelmed by the performance of the stock tires. I am considering replacing the stock tires with Michelin Defenders.

Does anyone have experience with these tires on your GX? The vehicle is primarily driven by my wife so no off-road duty.

The Michelin Defender LTX are very well regarded and probably the best non AT tires for the GX. It’s a better tires than the stock tires. The Premier model also have very good reviews as well.

I've got the Defenders on ours. Great tire for on-road performance. They are good in snow and very quiet so far.

i believe the Michelin LTX gets the best all around tire In the forum (for good reasons). Depending on what you want to do with the truck and where you are in the country it may be a good fit for you.

Here in the PNW you need a good all season for spring, summer & fall and a winter tire for the remainder (most stick with an all season year round but if you truly care about maximizing your GX’s capability go with the winter). One of the forum regulars did a great write up on the Michelin X-ice which I think is the best winter tire (I run Sumitomo Ice Edge and think they are great for traction but not so much in ride comfort or noise).

The rest of the year I run Toyo AT/2’s mostly for fun and looks but yet they are comfortable enough that my wife won’t complain about the noise (I do believe the m ltx is quieter). If we happen to come upon a detour they will handle it with no issue which is why I like them.

Removed my Volks on the weekend with my A/T summer tires and put on some Fast HD 17" rims with Toyo Observe winter tires I found on Kijiji for a decent price. They came off a Toyota 4Runner. Much better grip and just in time, it's been snowing all week.

While I really like the quality of Michelins in general, I didn't get great mileage out of the OEM Michelin Latitudes on my GX. I dumped them after about 35k.

I have had a number of large SUV's (Escalade, Yukon, Tahoe) with Bridgestone Alenza HL tires. I kept my last Tahoe for my son to drive, so I replaced the OE Alenza's at around 60k with new ones from Costco. Having such a good experience with them, I replaced the Michelins on my '16 GX with the Bridgestones. Again, Costco for about $800 all in. Nitrogen, free lifetime rotations (with balance!) and road hazard warranty. (They replaced one of my tires on the Tahoe with about 40k on it for free! No hassle.)
They are slightly noisier than the Michelins, but I'm pretty critical. A minor issue, especially because I noticed a pretty significant performance improvement over the Latitudes in the rain and especially in snow.

Ratings on Tire Rack say
#1 BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/L ALENZA PLUS in Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season

#1 KUMHO CRUGEN KL33 in Highway All-Season
#2 MICHELIN DEFENDER LTX M/S in Highway All-Season

Flip a coin, Kuhmo cheaper by $40 a tire, but Michelin has all the buy 4 get $50-70 coupons near me.
