Important question for me. My RX 350 2007 was made in Canada, and if I knew that before I bought it I never would have taken delivery.

All Lexus GX vehicles are made in Tahara Japan. The Canadian manufacturing facility for the Lexus RX vehicles is an award willing facility. There is even an option to take a plant tour.

As far as I know, GX are still built in Japan exclusively. But I am intrigued about your comment on not buying if built outside Japan. RX, mostly has been built in Ontario, Canada. I believe the hybrid RX was the only exception that was built in Japan. The Canada built RX has generally scored extremely well on the reliability even for a Lexus over the years.

GX however, notwithstanding it's built in Japan received a Do Not Buy, Safety Risk Label from Consumer Reports in early 2010 models, which of course was lifted a short while later. Just an FYI, but if Built in Japan is your prime criteria, I believe most hybrids are still exclusively built in Japan, although it's going to change soon. Others may correct me.

All GXs are built in Japan. As for RXs, Hybrids and special orders (Mark Levinson, Rear DVD, PCS) are built in Japan. This is supposed to be changing for 2016 on these features. Not sure if it has though. Will know soon after production numbers are published the end of the month.

Better steer clear of the ES too....since they're adding that vehicle to the Georgetown, KY Toyota plant.

It's available now. My dealer has 4. Basically a carryover from 2015 and 2014.
