Dare to be Spontaneous part 2
As the summer months begin to wind down, I recently returned from a 700 miles road trip to the great Adirondacks in NY. It was another spur of the moment, spontaneous adventure. Let's just go.
Cheap gas, a 4 day weekend, and beautiful weather. What more could I ask for?
Arrived safe and sound.
I learned that driving up and down mountains, it's best to use the manual shifting capabilities of the truck. Holding the gear in place gives you more power/control - From 2nd to 4th gear was best.
Mirror Lake. Notice how half is bright and half is dark.
My home for 2 nights.
My bear-proof tent.
Drove on this road for about 30 minutes without anyone in either direction.
This campsite is very rustic.
Sleeping in the front passenger seat leaned all the way back felt like I was in first class on a plane. Not bad.
The serenity of nature.
Something wicked this way comes
Driving up and down these mountains, I can attest that the EBC yellow stuff brakes held up very well. The Michelin LTX M/S2 also played a vital role in getting me up and down safely.
Oh so solid, oh sooo goood...

Thanks for the trip report and the great pictures. I completely agree about the use of manual shifting when you get in the hills. It's a far better driving experience if you take the up/down shifting away from the computer and handle it yourself.
Good to see a Lexus guy sleeping in his truck. Something I can relate to.

Morning breakfast, a MRE (Meals Ready to Eat). True camping style.

Beer and potato chips this time?
Thanks for sharing

The back, if and only if, you have soft padding and it's leveled out since you can lay down flat. Otherwise, I still think the front seats with the backrest leaned all the way back will be suitable for a night or two.

You're welcome. I am glad you enjoyed it. We both appreciate the shelter of our vehicle.
