Default 2014 GX 460 Grill Guards

Anyone have any luck with a grill guard for the new GX? I'm looking for a full front bumper to head light protection but with the new grill I feel like I'm going to have to go with a local customized job. The straight lines of most grill/ranch guards will look crap with the diagonal lines on the new grill. Really would rather not pay for a customized job though....

Wow.. That is an unusual request for a 2014 GX with the new grill. Are you trying to get more flair or are you going to run over some trees? Regardless due to the limited after market options for the 460 in general I doubt there is or ever will be a grill guard for you so custom is the only option.

I definitely intend to take it out on the trail and while I hope to miss (at least most of) the trees, I feel that some protection for a luxury vehicle would be prudent at the least haha.

If anyone knows a good fabrication garage in Colorodo please let me know!

Cheers and Merry Christmas

While not for the GX, here is a pretty cool video of ARB bumper install on LC200. I think ARB makes these for Prado too... Maybe you can check if you can ship one from overseas and have ARB in the US install one?

I know people think they are ugly but they are a godsend if you have ever taken a deer to the front of your vehicle. I will be doing one soon to protect me on western Canadian roads.

Here is one but it's for 2010-2013, might be a while until stuff for the 14 comes out.

ARB has always built an awesome bumper. I don't think it would look right on a GX but on a more truck like vehicles they are great.

I remember making a thread about possibility of the ARB on a 2010-2013.

Has anyone tried to install the Prado 150 ARB Bumper on the GX460? l

It seems like the 2010-2013 ARB Prado Bumper will fit on a 2010-2013 GX460 with minor modifications. But both the 2014 Prado's and 2014 GX460's front ends look so drastically different that anything ARB makes for the 2014 Prado will have to be heavily modified to fit the GX460. ARB is currently making parts for the 2014 Prado as of a month ago

I saw the bull bar on a GX and I'm just not digging it.

Also wonder how the park assist sensors will work with the bar there.

Don't like that one either... to me it is keep it stock or go all out with function over form with something like ARB.

Default A few techincal issues to overcome....

I too am looking at a custom job, and am not so thrilled with what I am seeing so far. The front end will have to be cut for anything to attach. More than likely right through the mesh grille. The two parking sensors there can be relocated from the grille to the sides of a brushguard with small tabs or boxes to accept the OEM sensors. Not a big, deal, the question is how will the grille looked cut up and allowing a couple of bars to get through it to mount to the reinforced bumper?

I am not sure yet. Will have to mock up with some styrofoam board to get an idea first.

Just been to guys in Queens NY who install grill guards. They sell on eBay, too. They never installed on 2014 GX460 so I was their guinea pig. eBay item # 181112225264 - $190 and they wanted $75 for installation which seemed more than reasonable. Well, it was not easy. They installed brackets that support the grill from the bottom and it appeared that the bumper on 2014 is longer, by about 4 inches which they said they can modify with a custom bracket extension. This is not ideal but with no other choices acceptable. Problem is the front park assist sensors. The guard blocks them. We tried to install the grill and test and park assist beeps continuously.
I ended up leaving without the grill guard but am thinking that perhaps I can remove the front sensors and refit housing from some kind of lighting equipment for them and then attach them to the grill guard? May look ugly. What are your thoughts?
Thinking of custom - this will be pricey but I also do not see how the custom guard would go around(???) the sensors...
