Default brake pads

Good day. I am new to this club. Curious as to the lifespan of your pads. Am a careful driver, had mine since Nov 2010 and has only 35,000 miles. Back brake pads were changed at 25,000 miles and just had both front and back brake pads changed again today. Quite frustrated at how fast they thin--esp the back one at just after 10,000 miles. Anyone have the same issue?

I have 40,000 on my 2010. Just had my 40,000 service. Pads did not need to be changed.

are you driving backwards?
sorry for sarcasism....

physically makes no sense why back wears out unless something wrong with front brake pistons.
front brakes do most of stopping power and should wear out first

Thanks for the info. Now am confused as to why mine needed to be changed that quickly. Hmm

Good to know. Mine I was informed needed to be replaced at 25,000. Hope yours last longer!

Re your sarcasism-- No worries. Free country. That precisely why I posted my dilemma. I believe it was too premature but not having any experience with cars I can't argue with their findings nor their advice. I guess next time seeking another opinion might work best.

Good to know they do last long. I thought it is true to all GX 460. So next question for me would be why mine was like that. Thanks

Jiji: You might try using Engine Braking a little more often - by shifting down to a lower gear. It is very easy to do in a GX, but, VERY few people use it. I drive in the mountains of Colorado daily and I've never had to change my brake pads. (I use my gears and engine a lot, and it gives me more control of the vehicle as well).

DO you drive with your foot hovering over the brake pedal? You could be ever so lightly touching the brake pedal and riding the brakes and not know it. NO WAY you should be replacing them at that interval

Questions: Are you sure your pads are worn out? Or, does the service tech tell you they are bad?

Default Brake Pads

Jiji. Hopefully, you don't use your left foot for braking. "Left footers' go through brakes much faster than normal. Likewise, as one of the posters said above, 'did you personally see that your previous brake pads were worn out, or did you just take someone's word for it?' Unfortunately, one thing about purchasing a premium car brand (any brand) is that those car brands assume that you know nothing, and don't want to know anything about how your vehicle works - which (they also assume) is why you take it in for service. Sad, but true, if you don't take a personal interest in your car (just as you would in your own personal health), then you are going to be taken advantage of. You'll be sold brakes, tires, batteries, belts, air filters, shocks, and many other items that you really do NOT need to replace. If you aren't sure about something you've been told, get a second opinion from another dealer! Don't just take someone's word for it that you need to have something replaced.

Did you see the pads are worn? alot of times service guys ask you to replace when there are still alot of usage left. happened to me not long ago, had my es330 in for service, they told me front brake pads are worn and need replaced, i didnt let them do it cause i can do these myself, but later i found out the pads are still good for another 15k miles city.
