The Blind spot monitoring system + rear cross traffic alert are nice additions...Its a shame the LX doesn't have those features, yet.

I would have liked an analog clock this time round, but its a not big deal.

Thanks for posting this! I think I like it, but we'll see in person. I've been holding off on a new GX for the last year or so, this helps. I'm not sure if I like the low bumpers front and back, but I do like the new grill. Can't wait to drive one.

"2014 GX 460 priced at $49,085 — $4,710 less than the 2013 model year" ... what a slap in the face for recent buyers!

This would seem to diminish its off-road capability, i.e., how steep a grade it can approach without scraping, which is known as the "approach angle". In addition, the advantage of an SUV is its ability to "park by feel" i.e., to use the wheels to find the curbs without worrying about scraping the bumpers. Those low bumpers are going to take a beating!

Actually no.... 2014 base model is below 2013 base model -- it doesn't even have leather seats! 2013 Base model became 2014 Premium model.

You're missing my point. This is bad news for those who bought a GX 460 recently as the "price of admission" just went down, which means resale value went down. Making the GX cheaper means it is less exclusive ... lacking leather seats isn't the issue ... perceived value is.

The GX 460 is now a $40 thousand-ish vehicle ... it was a $50 thousand-ish vehicle. Lexus may sell more of them by going downscale, but is it worth it? One thing is certain ... with those low bumpers it won't be going off-road!

The new design will cause the last generation to take a hit more than the less $4700 for the base model.

That sounds right. Those considering a used LX470 can get a new LX460 for less now, which will devalue the 470. Presumably, there are also 470 owners who will now make the switch, which will fill the dealers' lots with 470's and adversely impact their residual value.

This!

As a future buyer of the GX460 or 470, the introduction of a lower-priced trim may have benefited me a little bit more as I could use a price drop on a GX470, or a 2010-2013 GX460.

I posted these photos on the FJ forums to get the community's opinion. One thing they were concerned about was the amount of plastic on the center portion of the bumper that could take significant damage with a low speed collision.

It's your lucky day. The market price for both the GX 470 and 2010-2013 GX 460 just took a ~ $5 thousand hit. There are winners and losers ... you're the winner, recent GX 460 buyers are the losers and those who bought their 460 when they first came out should be resigned to holding for the long term ... I am!

i am holding onto mine, no reason to change with less than 20k miles.
i may change out the rear tailights and front end, but thats it.
it will still drive the same.

any car u drive will lose value, so think of any vehicle purchased just money down the toilet, especially for an suv

Although I think the front end now looks a little odd, we need to realize that the GX is still a truck. I like a modern looking vehicle with LEDs, etc....but the shouldn't make the GX look this sporty because realistically, it isn't a sporty SUV. It's a truck! This reminds me of the guy who lowered his LS 460 and put in a big fat exhaust pipe ...I saw this the other day. What a laugher.

I agree. If you already own GX460 what's the reason to change? Extended warranty gets you into complete model redesign even if you own 2010. Otherwise you loose now and then you loose once more once the 3rd gen comes out. Not that you can win anyways ;-) And there is more -- next gen LX is not too far away either (certainly closer than 3rd gen GX).
