DING...DING....DING!!!! We have a winner!! I totally agree!! I have wondered why they do not include this as well, especially since the technology exists to just have it plug and play update...plug in a USB stick with update and it auto updates in a few minutes. You pay enough for it upfront it makes no sense. Google maps updates all the time.

Apparently SD engine is further de-tunded to support harder working conditions as a truck. Perhaps that may explain some of the gap GX has with the crossovers.
The difference between the Toyota and Lexus 4.6 V8 is the Lexus is tuned to be smoother/quieter (which it is). The problem is you sacrifice HP and need premium fuel. The Lexus 4.6 has to be one of the smoothest V8 I have ever driven (if not the smoothest).

Just like they send you edirections and messages, they could update your nav via wirelessly. Lexus would not even need to eat the cost of manually installing the update or the cost of a cheap jump drive.

Even better! I did not think of that but you are totally correct, the tech is there to do it.

As I mentioned a few times, the GX is on a 6 year product cycle. Platform changes are a huge deal given the regulatory and logistics challenges. These activities are planned YEARS in advance and are a huge expense and as such are not taken lightly.

Mild styling updates (most likely to mimic the rest of the brand and entune) for 2014 and to the new platform, called the TX, in 2016, which sounds like it will be a crossover platform.

Accord to the Toyota Fleet site, the 2014 4Runner ordering started in June 2013 and will be open until May 2014. It says pricing info will be available in September 2013.

So c'mon Lexus, considering how closely related they are, give us some pics/info about the 2014 GX!!

It can't be much longer. I remember ordering my 2012 GX on the first day they opened up ordering which was on August 1st. Hopefully we will see something soon. I can't wait to see the updates even if only mild cosmetic updates like the spindle grille.

I found an official Toyota doc that has prices for the MY2014 RX and LX models. Prices have only gone up by $100-$250.

So I hope the GX prices don't increase any more than that for MY2014, but it worries me that they weren't listed there.

I hope Lexus doesn't decide to bundle all the features into just one trim level. I like the fact that they have a more affordable base model. I hope they keep it that way.

2014 GX is a refresh not a redesign like OP said.

It will simply get the spindle grill and the 3IS's latest navigation

You seem pretty sure of yourself, what else do you know with certainty? Do you have an inside line?

The 4Runner received a little more than that for the MY2014 update...heavily revised front end incl new headlamps, new tail lamps, 7-inch nav screen and other features that put it dangerously close to the GX460 in terms of content (ie heated and ventilated seats).

I would expect in addition to the "rumored" spindle grille, the GX460 to get some updated headlights with LED DRLs and restyled tail lights. Updates to the interior console as well..........

Based on the price increase that the LX570 received when it was updated for 2013 (approx 1.9%), I would expect the GX base MSRP to go up by about $1000 or so.

These updates will not bring the 4Runner anywhere near the GX! There is a HUGE difference between them. The current gen 4Runner is nowhere near the last gen 4Runner! Toyota dropped the ball with the current gen 4Runner, big-time.

You call this ugly 4runner beast interior a rival to the GX?
