Default Rear Brakes wear...

How often do you normally replace your rear brakes? I know that front brakes wear faster than the rear brakes, the reason I am asking is because my 2003 4Runner never needed rear brakes (it was a 4.7 iForce V-8 engine) and when I went to the dealer to get my front brakes done the rep told me that I needed rear brakes. I haven't personally check to see if it's really true but I don't think the rear brakes wear that soon. Have you had any experiences?

The rear brakes (pads) should last (at least) twice as long as the fronts (could last 3 or 4 times). The rear brake pads (and fronts) are fairly easy to replace (can be replaced without removing the caliper). Just remember there are also brake shoes for the emergency brakes located in the inside of the rear rotors (rotor must be removed to replace). The shoes are a PITA to replace.
