I'm not even comparing the two. I'm just saying the new GC is a very nice, well built vehicle and is very capable offroad. I never compared it to the GX, any such comparison would be pointless as they don't really compete with one another as the GX is larger and considerably more expensive.
You guys need not be so touchy. Acknowledging that one vehicle is nice and capable doesn't have to diminish the quality and capabilities of another.
Why would anybody want to close this thread? Its just a friendly civil discussion.
Bottom line, each car has its own advantages and disadvantage ok. It's a matter of preference.

The GX is not going anywhere so long as the Toyota Land cruiser Prado is around, remember the Prado is popular all over the globe and is the choice vehicle of the U.N. The GX is nothing more than a re-badged and refined Prado. No reason not to offer it when the factories will continue to produce Prados.

The GX needn't to go unibody but Lexus must have to have a unibody 7~8 seater crossover to compete with MDX or JX. The 7~8 seater SUV is an important market for lots of people include my next car.

Real 4 weel drive requires body-on-frame construction
Toyota should think about building bi-turbo diesel motors with common rail technology, the last VW /AUDI turbo diesel motors are extremely powerful, and the consumption is nothing compared to an actual standard petrol V8 .

I think it's inevitable that both LX & GX would move to the a uniboday platform, I have experienced that right hand with my Range Rover, built on unibody platform which made the car solid performer on-road and taken nothing of its off-road pros. Introduced in 2002, Dynamically speaking the Range Rover is miles ahead both on-road & off-road compared to the current LX & GX.
