What's a good price to ask for a GX? What did you pay?

I finally went through with my deal tonight - I ultimately decided the 2011 discounts weren't good enough and went with a 2012 instead. MSRP of $60289, with a sale price of $55,000 (+tax, title, etc.). I'm happy with my deal, and will be picking up the car on Saturday.

Around $53,500. I remember thinking I'm right around $1,500 over invoice.

What was funny, though, was the dealer claimed the invoice price was $54,261 and that the NADA/Edmunds were wrong ...

You can ask to see the invoice!

I did ask. Instead of showing they e-mailed me a figure.

I always purchase a vehicle from the invoice. When it comes to signing the contract, I do not see the invoice I do not sign!

This won't work in all cases. I've been looking for an SUV for several months now. Tops on my list are the GX 460, the Porsche Cayenne and X5. For the Cayenne, you need to negotiate at MSRP and they generally don't budge. There is some room to negotiate for the X5 though.

I see you're in NJ - which dealership shows you invoice prices? I'm accustomed to my BMW dealer showing me invoice pricing, but not so much with my Lexus dealership.

That sounds about right. Toyota "invoice" from a Vehicle Inquiry Report will not match NADA/Edmunds/KBB etc because of the TDA component of the Toyota cost structure, which varies by vehicle and region and is not published by the on-line websites.

On my 2011 GX purchase I found that the TDA on a GX in NJ was around $750-$800 so your 54.2 number sounds reasonable.

Ask for the vehicle inquiry report. It shows all the detail of the car like the monroney but also can include the invoice pricing.

Prestige Lexus in Ramsey.

How you negotiate is up to you not the Stealer. I only deal with a Stealer that is willing to show the invoice.
