To the OP, don't publicize that event just in case your dealer is a ****** and is looking to squirm out of a warranty issue later on.

The average of 93 and 89 is still 91, as I mentioned earlier, so inadvertently, he's running at the recommended octane (which most stations don't carry, anyway).

I prefer to use the recommended and I have experienced knocking in my MDX with using regular. See this link to help your decision.

I only run premium 93 octane at Mobil. You will lose power and MPG with regular. It will retard the timing and cut down on power. Not worth it in my opinion.

Premium is $5 extra at fill up. Why even mess around, feed the beast what she wants!

It's about $8.00 for 23 gallons. I agree, not worth it to save a few bucks...

I use Shell V-Power all the time, it's the only gas left without ethanol in Canada.

I only use the same gas here but it has the ethanol. My fishing guides pay around 30 cents a gallon more for non ethanol gas for their 4 cycle outboard motors.

I would not short-change such a nice vehicle. An analogy would be to have a 5-star meal accompanied by a $10 bottle of wine. Just give it the recommended fuel, drive and enjoy the vehicle instead of worrying over saving some money when you have already bought a "luxury" ride.

Lexus and their engineers have spent countless hours and millions of dollars (or Yen) developing these hi-tech engines. Because of this, I follow their recommendations.

Does it really make a different? Try it and conclude yourself? Even at $8/tank if you pump twice a week it will add up. Shell Premium 91 is $.55 per gallon more than Shell 87 here.

Ever wonder why 2010 and 2011 RX350 recommended (not required) Premium but 2012+ RX350 recommends Regular? Same for the ES line.

The 4.7L in the GX470 is the same as the 4.7L in the Tundra and 4Runner but the Lexus asks for Premium while the Totoya asks for Regular. Same thing as 4.6L in Lexus and 4.6L in the Tundra.

Premium MAY help the engine running smoother and Lexus wants its customers to feel that way (at the customer's expense).
