Default Power outlet 120 V AC (Type B)

I saw a reference to a Type B power outlet in the GX 460 owners manual. Does anyone know if this is a option for U.S. cars?

The 120V two prong outlet is standard.

Our GX has the outlet, but not the switch so presumably we do not have 120 VAC service.

They must have decided to forego the switch after the documentation was created.

The outlet works automatically once your car is in the IGNITION ON mode.

Here is a picture of what was in the manual. There is a Type A and a Type B.

Type A does not mention the switch, but emphasizes the limit of 100 Watts. A picture of Type A can be seen on page 537 of the Owners Manual. It seems the difference between Type A and Type B is the power rating. Type B is rated at 400 Watts and includes the switch on the dashboard.

It appears that this Type B switch is offered on the Ultra Premium in Canada.

Can anyone from Canada confirm this?

I have just bought a $10 converter so I can connect my laptop at front. It is not as pretty as factory plug on the back, but works perfectly when need one.

Luke.....

Also, one could use an extension cord.

When I get around to it, I'm going to make the 12 Volt power source, constantly hot.

At the same time, I'll put a 120 Volt outlet some place out of the way and out of sight, but handy.

Capirato,

Did you ever get the 12v power source constantly hot? If so, can you describe how to do it for me? Does it also make the USB power source constantly hot?

Thanks!

I have it in my GX 2010 Ultra Premium. It is basically a switch to engage if the power supply requirement for the plugged in item is over 100w.
