Paint protection film
I ordered the paint protection film that will be installed at the port for 429.00.
I found out yesterday, it doesn't cover the front bumper. It covers the mirrors, front of the hood and the top of the front fenders. What are your opinions on the film? It might not be too late to cancel. Should I purchase this, or not?
Thanks,
Craig

I mentioned somewhere before that the film on a showroom floor IS250 did not cover the entire painted area. There was no film on the bumper of this car either. I have 3M on my LS460 and it's perfect.

Yes it's a worth while add-on. I've had it on my 2005 GX since the day I bought it and my front end looks like new. There are kits (and they more expensive) that include the hood, bumper, fenders and mirrors, but not sure if the kit is out for the 2010 GX. One would think if they are offering it for the hood and mirrors there is a kit available which includes the bumper cover. If you can't get a kit that includes the bumber at the port cancel and search for someone local, that way not only should you be able to find a complete kit but if you have a warranty related issue you can have it taken care of by the local installer. You can get it done by an after market shop or more than likely your dealer has a local guy that installs it (mine does). Did you ask your dealer if they have someone local that carries a complete kit (hood, bumper, mirrors and fenders)?
If not, check the 3M website for an installer in your area.

Ventureshield was acquired by 3M recently. 3M will still carry clear film under the 3M brand and still have Venture as a seperate line. I prefer Venture over the regular 3M film.

I have the 3M on the LS and like it. I know zero about Venture. Why do you prefer that over 3M?

I am wondering the same thing myself. I had 3M on my BMW M Coupe for 5 yrs and my GX470 now for almost 5 yrs and I've had no clouding, peeling, rips, chips etc. I have found 3M clear bra to be a fantastic product and IMO the best available on the market.

Cancel the order. $429 at the dealer is a rip off. I don't think they even put it on at the port. Local lexus has a third party company puting it on.
I have film on my gx460 (look at the DIY mode thread). I have paid $650 and includes bumper and even headlights.
Also you can buy one from ebay. There is one I have used on my GS350 made by scotchguard. One of the sellers is selling it for about $200. If you are a patient person, you can put it on within 2-3 hours. There are some cheaper one on ebay, but those are thin and will get yellow quickly.
I hope this helps!

I have the 429.00 film and yes, it was installed at the port. It covers about 8" on the hood, both the side mirrors and the top of the front fenders. When I ordered it, I thought it would cover the front bumper and the edge of the hood. If I had to do it over, I wouldn't have ordered it. Since I have it, I'm just going to leave it on.
I looked at it again, it goes back more like 10" on the hood...
