I don't believe Lexus told dealers not to discount the GX. They're in short supply now and prices will come down around March when supply meets demand. I've driven several RX's and they're a Cougars vehicle in my opinion. I agree, if everyone liked the same thing, we wouldn't have choices...

I have driven quite a few RX's while mine has been at the dealer and IMO the RX is for "Wives & Widows".

I want an SUV that can tow atleast 5k, has adequate ground clearance, and full time 4 wheel drive. The GX does a pretty good job in all of the above. The RX goes 1/3 at best

I think you made the right choice. I have the X5 35d and I leave it on a battery tender every night in my garage. I'm thinking about the GX 460.
BMW says if you don't drive it on the highway, the battery won't charge with just city driving. I didn't know that when I purchased mine.

I have been reading your posts on the X5 forums and that is one of the reasons I decided to stick with the GX. I did love the power and handling of the X5. I am going to try to get te 3rd row seats out of the GX so there will be some under floor storage. Will report on that project. Thank for all your information on the X5. George

Hi George, you're welcome. Let us know how you like the GX and how the project on the seats works. I like the X5, but I don't think you should have to plug in a new car with a battery tender every night. BMW doesn't stand behind their vehicles like Lexus. I also have a LS 460. I know I won't keep the X5 once the warranty has expired. If my Lexus dealer makes a decent trade for the GX, I will buy one. I drove around for 3 months with a check engine light waiting on a part from BMW. Until I called BMW and asked them to buy back my vehicle, who knows when the part would have shown up at my local dealer. I also had to do the same thing with a heated fuel filter on back order for five weeks. Totally unacceptable in my opinion. That's why I say BMW doesn't stand behind their vehicles. This is my 5th Lexus and I've never had anything like that happen waiting on parts. This is my 4th and last BMW...

Congratulations on the new GX!

Craig

We have to tell multiple customers why their battery keeps dying on their 07/08 80,000 BMWS and they dont like the answer--not Driving it enough! and then recommend installing a trickle charger so they plug in every night--they love that.

True----but very few come in with valid problems that one of the cars 50-80 computers are not going "to Sleep" and draining the battery overnight.

BMWNA says, I have to drive my car on the highway in order to charge the battery. What kind of crap is that for a modern vehicle. They couldn't even tell me where my parts were until I told them, buy it back.

Yes, I have a loaded 2009 X5 35d twin turbo diesel. I have most of the options, but I don't have navigation. Main reason, it sucks compared to the Nav in my LS 460. The back up camera was terrible as well. I really like the way my X5 drives, but I don't think it has the reliability or durability of a Lexus GX.

I agree X5D very nice vehicle-but the reliability of any BMW is Horrid after about 4 years or even less on some models--I would say the 3 series is their most reliable car period!
