Disappointing they didn't include Apple CarPlay. They seem to be rolling this out to quite a few other Toyota and Lexus models in 2019. This would have had me considering replacing my pre-facelift with the spindle-grill. I still prefer the looks of the 10'-13' MYs (I really like the refreshed Prado front end the most!).
Does anyone really pay attention to every tidbit of info around them? It was somewhat already established, that the 2020MY GX will arrive in August of 2019.
I thought it was established months ago to not expect anything for MY 2019? Using the search function would answer those questions easily. I think patgilm might also back me up on this.
That refresh was due for MY19 and was pushed back to MY 2020 next summer. A new GA-F GX isn't due until 2022ish, if even approved.
So I just spoke to a dealer in Massachusetts today. He gave me a great deal on leasing a 2018 gx. He said the 2019 will have an upgraded front...so I’m not sure if I should hold off a few more months or get the 2018 model? Any suggestions?

2019 gx 460 models are the exact same as 2018 models. My dealership already has a few 2019s. Get a great deal on a 2018 while you can as it will be atleast a year before any revised gx would come out.

Established by whom?
Searching for "GA-F GX" yields lexus enthusiast posts which seem a little more sophisticated, but are all still just speculation.
A lot of speculation here and elsewhere is based off of the AutoNews "Future Product Pipeline" which again is just an editor on the payroll of autonews making his or her best guess based on market trends.
The most information that we've gotten in the past few years about the next generation of trucks came earlier this years in an Autonews interview with Mike Sweers who is leading a project to americanize the next generation truck & SUV TNGA platform (presumably TNGA-F).
We could deduce that a true redesign for the GX would likely not occur until sometime after the Landcruiser and Tundra redesigns, presumably again on the new global architecture platform, and so we'll have at least a full model-year warning on that based on history of how Toyota likes to roll out their product. But again we don't actually know if that's the case, it's just speculation based on hints and previous history.
Given LX has had two refreshes, and Prado recently got a refresh, it seems like the very long-in-the-tooth GX could have used a refresh by now. If the BOF TNGA platform isn't finished until 2019, that puts us into 2020-2022 territory. Just a fresher face, fresher Lexus interior, perhaps a new transmission, would go a long way to keeping the GX relevant in the luxury SUV market, even for just 2 or 3 more model years to keep sales alive. If the new GX doesn't hit until 2023MY, a 2020MY refresh would still be warranted.
Only time will tell, but I agree I don't expect to see anything new from Lexus anytime soon.
