New Michelin LTX MS2's

Just got a set of these from Costco. All I can say is wow. The Lattitudes that were on the vehicle had only 32K on them, but this is night and day. Smoother, quieter, tracks straighter, better handling in corners on the wet and slushy roads here. I have had these tires on my other SUV's but they seem perfect for the GX. Even my wife immediately noticed the difference.

I just turned 30k miles and it looks like I will be changing my stock michelins out soon also. Pretty disappointed with the life of these considering on my old GX's factory Bridgestones I got 50k out of them. I will be getting the same ones you have based on the recommendations here and can't wait. I really have nothing good to say about pretty much any oem tires especially since they seem to cost more.

How much were they installed at Costco? PM me if you don't mind.

Tell us all how much, it's good for forum info

Are your bad tires the Latitude Tour HPs?

SpokeBroke Feb 16, 2014 06:31 AM

Yes, the old tires were the Latitude Tour HPs. They had a significant amount of dry rot cracking and wear at 32K.
Are there any rules against posting pricing on this thread? I would be glad to post the Costco prices if there are no issues.

There are no issues posting the pricing.

SpokeBroke Feb 16, 2014 07:06 AM

The tires were $232.99 each = $931.96
State tire tax $2
Mount and Balance 4 @ $14 = $56
Disposal $4
Current Michelin Coupon (they have it at Costco) -$70
6% State Tax $56.28
Total is $980.24

Boy, I was debating the whole replacement when it comes due on my vehicle

Michelin Latitude Tour HPs
vs.
Michelin LTX MS2's

I was leaving toward the HPs because in the guide, it said better handling and great wet performance. I'm not really going to do any offroading and I was afraid the MS'2 would be "too hard"...any opinions?

I switched to MS2 from almost new Latitude Tour HPs at 6500KM because I needed a single tire which would work best in both winter and summer. I think Latitudes were a smoother/softer highway riding tire but MS2 significantly outclasses the Latitudes in pretty much everything else so at the end MS2 wins for me. It looks much better on the truck too.

I have them installed on my 2014 GX 460. They aren't rough riding and the only downside, my fuel mileage isn't as good by about 1 MPG. Much better in the snow and ice than the HP's I had on my 2010.

frank69m Feb 16, 2014 08:25 PM

So I guess you'd do MS2's over HPs? I live in California and probably will do limited offroading.

JDSTL Feb 16, 2014 08:39 PM

I had the dealer swap the factory Bridgestones for LTX MS2s after reading reviews about the stock tires and the MS2s. From what I've seen, the MS2s should last twice as long as the factory tires.

They didn't do an even swap, I paid mount and balance and their cost difference which I think was $350 for 5 tires. The Latitude HPs are a more expensive tire than the Bridgestones so it wouldn't have cost as much but mine didn't come with the Michelins.

Yes, I would go with the M/S2's. They will last a lot longer than the HP's. The M/S2/s have a much higher tread wear rating.

2011 Lexus GX 460 tires

I just replaced worn out Bridgestones with Michelin LTX MS 2's at Costco. Same price as the other guy got. The GX rides and handles much better with the LTX's. Really glad I made the swap and stayed away from the Latitude Tour HP's. I called Michelin before I made the swap and they said the LTX's would work fine on the GX. You can't go wrong switching to the LTX MS 2's

Just ordered my Michelin LTX MS/2's from Tire Rack and they have the same deal as Costco, $70 rebate. I am not a member of Costco so I couldn't go through them but went with Tire Rack and one of their recommended installers by my house, the pricing is going to be about $8 more. Just FYI in case anyone else needs tires soon.
