It was handy not having to fiddle with the "Map" button if you weren't on the map screen, or had the map off, or look at the teeny compass icon and mentally calculate NNE, but I suspect was a cost-saving measure from Lexus. Certainly no downside to leaving it since it occupied very little real estate and could be turned off if not used; the 2011s did add brake override, which is at least a potential safety addition....

Another 2 negitives, no outside temp. display. You have to use the climate button... No auto folding mirrors.

Don't know about an "auto" folding feature, but on my Premium the mirrors have a power folding button....

Lots of things need to be put on this (not so much a negative point but they should be on this!)

Automatic notification of authorities in case of accident
Speed Sensitive steering
Display individual tire pressures
Blind spot warning
Nite vision / Heads up display
Adaptive braking tail lights
Auto Parking
Level Indicator for those with adjustable suspension
Led DRL's
Side Cameras on rear for left and right
Engine Cylinder shut off when power is not needed
Hybrid powertrain
Auto stop/braking when obstacle in front (OK, the PCS is there, but should in fact decide to stop the vehicle)

No Skid plate on transfer case.

should i go on? Just look at the technology on some german manufacturers for the future. Lexus has some catching up to do. It just blows my mind the stuff thats not on cars/suvs that should be.

Still i love the gx...

If I'm not mistaken the GX does have some of these features available.

Automatic notification of authorities in case of accident - part of safety connect

Speed Sensitive steering

Level Indicator for those with adjustable suspension - dash displays H/N/L

Side Cameras on rear for left and right - part of wide-view monitor sys

Auto stop/braking when obstacle in front (OK, the PCS is there, but should in fact decide to stop the vehicle) - part of the accident avoidance sys

it does not have any of these features. there is no speed sensitive steering.

level indicator, thats not what i meant. (levels at hardware store)

there are no side cameras on this. Its a wide view mirror, inadequate for coming traffic from sides.

safety connect? i thought you had to press the button for it to work. it works automatically?

Yes the steering is speed sensitive.

I have the display for the auto leveling air spring susp that indicates the position low/normal/high on the dash (with a selecting switch on the center console).

It's funny someone must have installed wide-view cameras in my side mirror and front grill just before I took delivery. What's even better is they tied them into my nav screen with on/off switch on my steering wheel!

Safety connect calls automatically when in a collision.

I think you need to do a little research.

there are no side cameras in rear. it is one camera with a wide view. what the heck are you talking about?

safety connect calls. i got that wrong. but its only good for 1 year?

speed sensitive steering? steering feels very numb at all speeds and is the same. where did you see that the gx has this?

the level - you need to check out the ones at the hardware store - thats what they need on the console

According to insideline.com the GX does have speed-sensitive steering; I also remember seeing that on the Lexus.ca website as well, but it looks like it's been removed for 2011.
Here's the website to insideline.com

For rear side view cameras, I've never heard of that one before! Which manufacturers have them?

I joined to post about the temp outside, was hoping someone could tell me another way too see temp without hitting the climate button & I now see I there is NO other way!!

As much as I was excited to get my new Lexus.. there are a lot of things I am not in love with on this car... I was going to get the range rover sport, I almost regret not getting it...

May we know what they are? The benefit of discussion on this forum is that other owners may have found "a way around" perceived problems. Certainly, no one has found a way to display outside temperature without pressing a button, but presumably that is not your only complaint.
