Poll: Has your dealer contacted you about your GX460 VSC related issues?

I'm just wondering how many people were contacted by their dealer, either before or after the announcement of the fix. My dealer has NOT contacted me at all - while I know its not a requirement and I'm waiting for the letter, a courtesy call would have been nice...

akfd 04-20-10 01:33 PM

I live in Canada, and there are only four-hundred-something of them in the country, so it's normal that dealers don't contact the owners.

My dealer contacted me last week to discuss the issue and let me know a fix was forthcoming.

They called again this morning to say that the fix has been determined and they will let me know when I can bring my vehicle in for the service.

In addition to our dealer contacts described in my referenced message, our "Lexus Drivers" private page for our specific vehicle displays the appended statement about the Special Service Campaign to update the VSC ECU. Note that it is NOT referred to as a recall, which is mandated by the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. In other words, Toyota/Lexus does NOT have to do what they are doing ... they are only doing it for customer satisfaction reasons, which means they get even more credit for doing it!

Audi, BMW, Land Rover, Mercedes, etc. ... take note ... this is how Lexus does it and you better be prepared to do the same!

SaniDel

I sent mine the picture of the GX with the training wheels and asked him if I could order a set, hehe. He wrote back "and I thought I'd seen everything." Then today he called to tell me about the recall and that they were actually going to get it next week and that it actually only takes 10 minutes. He said that 10% of their GX customers have parked them and taken the loaner. Wonder if that's the same across the country. . .

The Service Manager for Koons Lexus of Wilmington just called to schedule our update. We will be the first 2010 GX 460 they have sold to be updated. Our update is scheduled for Wednesday 28 April and will include a car wash and a tank of gas. It will take approximately one hour and we will have lunch at a nearby restaurant while it is being updated rather than to avail ourselves of a loaner vehicle, although that was offered.

We are extremely happy with how this is being handled ... kudos to Lexus for resolving this issue for the benefit of their customers ... and their brand!

SaniDel

Our VSC software update was performed per schedule on Wednesday 28 April.

It took less time than we took for lunch at a nearby restaurant and our vehicle was ready when we returned to the dealership ... updated, washed, a full tank of gas AND a new set of floor mats! Even better, the new mats are for a Premium GX 460 and are noticeably thicker, plusher and with metal nameplates rather than fabric. The part number on the bag in which they were shipped is PT208-60105-40 in brown.

I highly recommend Koons Lexus of Wilmington and their Service Manager Greg Ritter for Lexus owners in the Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania area.

http://www.koonslexusofwilmington.com/

Greg met us when we arrived and made all arrangements, including preparing the necessary documentation. He explained that the VSC software update was uploaded late on Tuesday evening after a conference call with the Eastern Region Service Managers and Mark Templin, the Lexus General Manager. According to Greg, he was unaware of any other dealership that was as prepared to receive and perform the software update and some dealerships admitted they had not contacted their customers. Greg also told us that only one (1) GX 460 customer of Koons Lexus of Wilmington had 'parked' their GX and were driving a loaner. I wonder what that one customer considered a suitable loaner in lieu of their GX 460 ... are there any?

As we left the dealership, we counted four untitled GX 460s being readied for delivery. It seems that they had been 'conscripted' for the loaner vehicle fleet, i.e., GX 460 'appreciation' vehicles. How ironic that a vehicle they won't sell can be loaned to clients who are having their 'lesser' vehicles serviced!

Presuming the VSC software update is now available to all dealerships, we may expect that Lexus will soon announce resumption of sales and production. Consumer Reports has already indicated they will have the VSC software update performed on their GX at a dealership and will re-run the emergency handling tests.

P.S. No, we did not look for an exit ramp off the Interstate on which to test the VSC update ... and we won't. ;-)

Mine was completed today as well. Picking it up tomorrow. I took it in with a full tank of gas tho.... Maybe I'll get a GC for a tank or two... ;)

I didn't get new floor mats :uh: The service was excellent in Raleigh, NC. They came to my house to pick up the car and return it couple hours later with a full tank of gas and washed.

ybing 04-28-10 06:03 PM

@@? pick up your car? I just got a call from my product specialist, he can come to my house to fix it :D
