Any ideas...why or what to check. all the settings for the light control arm work except for the setting "auto." I looked in the owners manual and it's unclear or I just simply missed it (I read through several times) to find which fuse or fuses it might be.

any help would be appreciated.

The light sensor on the dash, anything covering it? Gloves, laptop, lunch?

no..that was the first thing i looked for...been caught on that one before..

Never checked but does the dimmmer switch control sensitivity and if turned all the way to that click, does it cancel headlights as well as high brightness on dash? Never touched mine so just thinking.
