My LED foglight upgrade
So I couldn't find any information as if led lights would work on my 06 without adapter or resistors. I bought these https://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-H3-LED-42-SMDs-Canbus-No-Error-Free-DRL-Super-White-Fog-Light-Bulbs-I347/173711760741?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 .And they work great. Very white to match my LED headlights. No more dull yellow.

no, just those plastic engine cover shroud buttons were brittle and I broke a few taking it apart. I replaced them with an $8.00 146 piece kit from ebay

I went with Hella extreme yellow incandescent bulbs. The Hella's burn off the snow and ice. (Picture taken today May 16, 2019 somewhere off-road in Nevada.)

I’ve got LED fog light bulbs in my 2005.... they do not work as good as the incandescent bulbs... they look way cooler... but I honestly can’t tell if they are on or off... but that may be because my low beam LED bulbs are so much brighter.
I wish the GX had used the 9005/9006 bulbs in the fog lights like the 4Runner(same year models) did. My 2005 4Runner limited has LEDs all the way around too... those fog lights are obvious when they are on.... even with the brighter LED low beams.

What type of LED low beams do you have? Are they good in bad weather like when raining at night? I'm thinking of whether to get LEDs or HIDs.
Regarding HIDs is it better to get 4300k or 5000k for better visibility during bad weather and in ovetall? I don't want just the look of the light. I need a better performance over my stock halogens to see better at night.
Also, does anyone know if 4300k HIDs will be much better than stock halogens? Stock halogens are 4300k, aren't they?
Thank you.

I bought these from amazon.. they are very bright and have a great pattern for the GX470 projector style headlamp lenses.
H11/H8/H9 LED Headlight Bulbs 1:1 Design Low Beam/Fog light with Fan, SEALIGHT S2 Series Upgraded CSP Chips 7600LM 6000K Xenon white IP67-2 Year Warranty (2 Pack)
Just click the gray box and change it to 9005 for high beams. These have been great and through lots of water... easy fitment too.

Thank you guys. Still have to think whether to get HID or LED though.
LED is easier to install from what I've heard. Sealight is also cheaper than Xenon Depot Xtreme HID. There must be a reason as for why HID is more expensive or not?
I'll try to watch some reviews on youtube for Xenon Depot HIDs and Sealight LEDs.

HID’s have much further range than LED when it comes to aftermarket upgrades. But with that comes cost. I love my LED’s.... they make the vehicle look 10 years newer.. easy.
Id rather have HID to be honest though.. they are brighter. But I wasn’t willing to spend the time or money difference for the improvement... it doesn’t add up.
Maldonado, if you install your LED incorrectly(almost impossible)... you don’t take a chance of melting the headlamp housing and wires.
With that said... if your LED bulb doesn’t have a fan, you won’t be able to see well if your headlights ice over... the led doesn’t put out enough heat to De-ice the lens.
So so it’s all in personal preference, where you live, and how much you want to spend.
