Default Average cost for a brake job

A reputable independent shop is charging about $1000 for front and rear brake job which includes Akebono rotors and toyota brakes. Just wanted to get an idea of whether this is a fair price or is it too much. How much do you think a complete brake job like this costs on average by an indy or a toyota/lexus dealer?

That sounds more reasonable. Rotors replaced and not just resurfaced, right?

750 is very cheap from a dealership. Retail parts alone for complete brake job is about 550-600 then few hours labor. Easily $1000

Rockauto has sets (front and rear + pads) for as low as $126 and upwards of $328.. Learn to DIY if you care about saving $$ or just pay the $750 to $1000.

I love Rockauto. But be careful with the cheaper aftermarket parts because you get what you pay for. Like Centric, surestop, powerstop brands - I would never get them again based on my experience.

My vehicle's previous owner put cheap Chinese "drilled + slotted" rotors on. Total garbage. Go with stock, or a quality aftermarket like Akebono or Centric.
