Michelin is the best tire for GX by consensus. However, I installed a set of Kumho Crugen HT51 which has almost the same good rating of Michelin but about half the price on my GX. It is as quite as Michelin.

^ this. Michelin Defender LTX are by far the highest and most often recommended all season tire for the GX.

Having said that, I've been running Bridgestone Dueler HL Alenzas for about 20k since that's what the previous owner installed and I've found them to be perfectly good tires. Quiet with decent wet traction and good tire life.

Just had a set of the Defender LTX's installed on my 05. Replaced Michelin Cross Tracks? that the previous owner had installed. Tires were 7 years old and had pretty severe dry rot but plenty of tread left. New ones are quiet. Today I'm replacing the tires on my Escalade with Bridgestone Dueler HL Alanzas, which it had from the factory. Been really happy with those too. Tire Rack has the Kumho's a hair ahead of the Defenders in the ratings.

The tread pattern on these tires look exactly like the Michelin Defender LTX M/S...looks like another China knock off....the question is...how long do they last?

I'm getting HT51's installed this weekend. Hopefully all the hype is true. Also have old cross-terrains on there. They also have dry rot but are otherwise alright. Would have had issues with state inspection. Will report back.

Default Michelin Defender LTX M/S

After doing much research and comparing sale prices at Discount tire, Tirerack, Farm & Fleet and some independent shops (highest priced of all), just ordered a set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S from Sam's Club last week for $810 installed. Black Friday sale baby! This includes $70 rebate that I didn't have to mail myself and they knocked $60 off (installation fee).
Will be getting those installed next Monday!

Just got the Defender LTX M/S installed today. 2 of them were manufactured on the 6th week of 2018 and two others were 36th week of 2018 (stamp on the sidewall). Very happy with the tire's performance!!! Sure it does not look as cool as BFG KO2s, but the tread is deep and lots of siping makes the driving feel like you've got velcro wrapped tires and you're driving on a wool surface. Great feeling.
What's not great was my experience with Sam Club installers. First, It took 75 minutes instead of promised 45, and I was the first one in line at 8am! Second, once I got home later in the day, I have discovered that one of the wheels had a mismatching rubber valve stem. Hmmmm.... So I called Sams and told them about it and they said the original TPMS broke so they gave me a new one free of charge. I told them that I wanted the OEM metal one. They stated they did not have one, but if I bought one, they'd reimburse me for it and will install it for free. Good enough. Called Advanced Autoparts, they said $97. Called Lexus and I got it for $89 (heck I'm getting reimbursed for it anyway, right?). Brought it over at 5pm, their system went down and they could not do the work without a work order. FML! Finally, by 6:50 I was outta there. WOW, never new that getting new tires would be such an ordeal!
Anyway, I think Michelins are worth $800!

Good luck everyone!!!
