Side mirror question 1st gen 2004

ok my mirrors haven’t gone left/right since I bought my 470. They have always gone up and down with no issues and it’s the same on both sides. I have tried a new switch already. I took to repair shop today, great place but wanted some opinions. this is probably a really fair price since they are Lexus actuators he said he would replace both sides for 630 plus tax. Good news is my passenger side is currently working perfect but no luck on driver side. Why would my passengers side start working????
My questions
should I buy myself and install and if so any risk of a computer memory board not seeing new actuator? I saw a post about this somewhere.
Will toyota actuators work? I think so but the more I look the more not sure
could anyone suggest where to buy
TIA
brian

Did it many years ago...piece of cake...mirror pops off and new actuator is plug and play...it actually came from Lexus with good instructions.

I did the passenger side a few weeks ago using this video as a guide. You want thin hands. :)
There are two difficult parts to the job - getting the 4-pin connector hooked back up, going only by your sense of touch. And getting the upper mirror clips back into the actuator so that the bottom clips can fit on.

I got the part off eBay - there was a seller who had gotten a bunch from some Toyota/Lexus dealers as overstock. Look for the factory packaging.

I would emphasize this approach. I recently bought a 2003 470 and neither side worked. As part of the conditions of the sale, the seller purchased 2 actuators from ebay and installed them. I think that he spent about $150 for both; took him 15-20 minutes to install both. No way you should have to spend that kind of money.
