hood deflector recommendation

I am just wondering if the hood deflector really working and what's your recommendation.

I dont think they work very well and the trade off is too much for me. I have a few chips on my GX but none that would have been stopped by the deflector. I've also seen some poorly installed ones hurt the paint with their bumpers...
