Default Need advise on buying my first GX470

Greeting guys.

I have been hunting for a GX470 for a long time, mainly looking at 05+ with the vvti and around 100k miles.

Finally found one, 06 with 96k miles for 10k. upon pulling the car fax, it shows it has a flood title, call the seller, he said that is due to the right side front window was broken and rain water had gotten into the car, he said everything is working as it should and nothing is wrong with it. Last time i checked there was no major flooding in that area when the car was reported total loss. So i kinda believe what he said about the window.

my question is, what are some important eletronic components are in the front passenger side that could have been affected by the water?

given this information, i am sure that i will not pay the full price on the truck, what do you guys think is a fair price for it? (assuming i need to put another k in it for tb and wp)

thank you

I would run, not walk, away from a flood (salvage) title. Leaving a cracked window open would not lead to a car being written off for flood damage.

If the car is worth say 15k when it floods, it has to do 15k worth of damage for an insurance company to declare it a total loss, at least that is my understanding of it. Have you put the VIN into the Lexus Owners site and seen all of the service history? It would allow you to see at very least which dealerships were servicing the vehicle and then you can look up flood events close to those dealerships . . .

my understanding is if the damage were. more than 75% of the value of the car, it would have been totaled by the insurance company. I am not a expert, idk how it really works. it was branded in march 2016 at 94k miles, now is has 96k..

can you provide me a link of the Lexus Owner club?

This is all there is with the exception of an open recall and flood damage salvage title. This is from Lexus owners but carfax is about the same, except they show salvage title from flood damage.

Most insurance companies will total a car if the repairs are 70% to 75% of the wholesale price of the car. They do not work on retail numbers.
This is from my adjuster from USAA.
