best tires for gx 470

Pole Position
I have 40k on the Michelin LTX M/S2's The ride is quiet and comfortable. The only thing I'd want different is better wet traction (it's not bad - it's just that I feel it should be better)

Make it Michelin, IME. Current flagship highway tire for the GX would be the Defender LTX M/S. I have these on my GX and LX, after previously having Latitude Tour on both trucks, and before that, Cross Terrains on the GX. The Latitude Tour (in the process of being phased out in favor of the Defender) were silent, ride was fantastic, and overall excellent, lasted 50K miles on the GX, still at 4/32nds tread remaining so I could have ran them longer if I'd wanted. The Defenders are pretty new to me but seem to be pretty much the same quality of low noise and excellent ride, supposedly will last longer than the LT. IME, All Michelin tires are great, which is why I'm now riding on my 86th Michelin tire that I've purchased in my life, going back to the 1980s.

Agree with the other responses here. Have had great experiences with Michelin's on my 2006 GX. Have had Cross Terrains andL LTX M/S so far and each easily lasted 70,000 miles and could have gone another 5000. About to put on a new set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S at Costco tomorrow.

I agree with everyone else, have always replaced my tires with Michelin. Although, I've seriously considered replacing the Michelin's on the GX with Continentals based on Consumer Reports ratings and my experience with them as OE tires on the E63.

Agreed the Michelin is probably the best tire for GX. My last set of Michelin LT2 lasted more than 80k and still had ~1/4 thread. I recently replaced them with a set of Kumho HT51 highway tires. These tires have very good review that is and close to Michelin tires. But they only cost about half of Michelin. Tires run good and quite.

We strictly have Michelin tires on our GX, Landcruiser, and RX respectively. Once I purchased Bridgestone for the Landcruiser, they ran smooth but after 30,000 miles had to be replaced after excessive wear. I don't know if it was the Texas heat or the tires, Bridgestone graciously replaced all 4 tires, however, those tires were replaced with Michelins after only 25,000 miles.
From that point forward, the GX, Landcruiser and RX only wear Michelin. We purchase all the Michelin tires at Costco.

Have 65K on my Michelin LTX MS/2s and they still have 6/32 Tread left on them... Looks like its time to replace them soon.
I really want to get KO2s (especially the looks not that i take my GX off road) but guys at local tire shop totally discouraged me....
They said, those tires are not for lexus.... AT is a totally different ball game...GX will lose MPG on it.... The ride will become harsh and bla bla....
I cam out thinking... WTF
I know Michelins are the best but what do you guys think of BF Goodrich KO2s ... Does anyone experience those things i mentioned above??? or the tire shop guys were talking non sense...
