Does anyone know what the OEM Windshield DOT # & features were at factory install? A few years ago, my Lexus dealer busted the rear view mirror completely out of my windshield (when vacuuming the car after service) - dealer had to replace my windshield. Now, my windshield has a crack expanding from top of windshield 3/4 of the way down the windshield (driver's side). In the process of working on getting my auto ins co to pay for an OEM windshield, I discovered there is NO Lexus stamp on my front windshield! Never occurred to me that I should check the windshield to ensure my dealer installed an OEM windshield. Not happy that my dealer did not replace my windshield with the original Lexus OEM. I will be calling my dealer for an explanation.

My current windshield is AP Tech, AS1, M852, DOT - 563, Solar Lamisafe Tech M852 AS1. www.carwindshields.info/dot_db lists DOT 563 manufacturer SHENZHEN AUTOMOTIVE GLASS MANUFACTURING, P.R.O.C., CHINA.

I priced one out today for my 04 with Safelite. It's taken me a week to find an OEM quality windshield.

I did a research on this subject some time ago. From my understanding, OEM, meaning windshields with "Lexus" logo is only available from the factory, from Japan. Whatever else happens to your windshield when it gets here in the US, is no longer replaceable with a "Lexus" made windshield.

I don't know how they did that, but this is the first account I've ever seen of having replaced windshield with OEM.

I used to be a BMW Service Manager and we subbed out replacing OE windshields all the time. We ordered the windshields from BMW through parts and had a local windshield company install them.
