Default NEW RR-Racing GX470 Brake Kit!

After experiencing repeated caliper piston seizure on our shop Lexus GX470, we designed a new brake kit to improve brake performance and reliability. Unfortunately, the original calipers are notorious for experiencing piston seizure due to the fact that caliper is made from cast iron and the pistons are made from steel – materials that easily corrode. Rather than replace with remanufactured auto store calipers (which will typically fail within a year), or expensive new calipers from the dealer, owners of Lexus GX and Toyota 4Runners now have the option of upgrading to our new 6 piston performance brakes.

This product features include:
  • Wilwood Forged Aluminum Aero 6 piston calipers. Forged aluminum construction with 6 differential bore pistons made from stainless steel that will never corrode or seize.
  • Aero 6 calipers come with standard black anodized finish, but available custom powder coated as well.
  • Standard rotor thickness is 27.5mm which we upgrade significantly to 32mm, resulting in longer brake rotor life, greater thermal capacity, and higher resistance to warpage.
  • High temperature brake pads. Even the highest temperature pads for OEM calipers fade quickly beyond 800F. The BP20 compound is rated up to 1100F. This means that you will not fade these brakes, even when braking beyond 100mph, or towing heavy loads.
  • Offered in optional powder coated paint colors with RR Racing logo (please specify in order notes if you prefer no logo)

Two questions:

What size rotors does this kit use? Where and how can we buy replacement rotors for this kit?
What is the cost of this kit, using the default color?

Thanks!

We have 2 options for rotors, either Stoptech/Centric or slotted DBA rotors.

Size is 338mm x 32mm thick. Stock is 338mm x 27.5mm.

Rafi, the website is confusing. Rotors are liste d as an option. Yet the product description lists them as part of the package and the picture shows them as part of, aside from the upgrade to slotted...

Sorry for the confusion, but reason rotors are optional is that some folks already upgraded to gx460 brakes and now want new calipers, some want to buy their own rotors on eBay or amazon or wherever.

You guys should make a brake kit for the 80 series Land Cruiser.... those really need it and are a very popular vehicle so there would be alot of demand. But it has to clear 16 and 17" wheels because I don't think they run anything bigger than that.

Make brackets for the LS400 calipers/rotors to work on those trucks and I guarantee you that will sell like hot cakes.

if you check his website, the new calipers require the thicker rotors... makes sense.

Nope, you need the 32mm rotors for our kit. In terms of durability and longer service life, it very worthwhile to upgrade the rotors.

Hi Rafi,

Sounds like, if i have the GX460 rotors.,... they will work with the calipers you're selling, correct?
In other words, your kit comes with the SAME size/spec rotors as the OEM GX460?

The Stock GX460 caliper is 4 piston. The Wilwood caliper you're selling is 6-piston, correct? And it's made out of better material?
Any other advantages i am missing?

Thanks!

yes, the Wilwood 6 piston caliper we use is called the Aero 6, which is forged aluminum with stainless steel pistons (differential bore pistons for better force distribution). Stock is cast iron with plain steel pistons, and corrodes like hell.
