Default Oil in the manifold?

hey guys, so im getting around doing my air injection pump and just got the manifold out. First thing I noticed was oil around the seals? Then when I looked inside there’s a puddle of oil. This can’t be normal. What could cause this and needs replacing while I’m on it? Thanks in advance!

I can't tell a lot about your photos (showing up pretty dark on my monitor) but if you just have some minor pooling, it's not unusual. It happens normally due to hot oil vapors being sucked through the PCV system and condensed in the intake manifold. If the intake manifold or runners are shaped such that there are areas where the oil can pool, it will. I've seen it on engines with as little as 10K miles or so.

I agree - probably from the PCV valve.

I don't recall your GX's age/mileage, but replacing the PCV valve while you're there wouldn't be a bad idea. IIRC it's driver's-front on the engine.

THANKs for the response guys. I had a hunch it’s the PCV, just never seen it have this much oil. Upon quick search in google, seems everyone’s been having this issue with the Tundra and Sequoia even at low mileage. I only have 117k on my 08. Some people even replace the PCV every oil change, I don’t know if that’s necessary but there’s really a lot back there. The truck runs normal tho.

Don't waste your money replacing the PCV valve frequently (like less than 100K miles or more). They are very simple devices and 99+% of the time are not responsible for oil in the intake manifold. As I said, it's almost always caused by the oil vapors that are SUPPOSED to go through the PCV valve and into the intake manifold. It's not a malfunction of the PCV valve.

So, I was trying to purchase the PCV for my 08 at the Lexus dealership today to replace it, and the sales guy is saying that its part of the valve cover and their system is not even giving an option that its a separate part. I could've sworn it was just screwed on.

Part number is 1220450030 and it should be around $10.

Thats only for modes up to 2005. After 05, there’s no longer a PCV for the GX. The parts manager talked to a tech while I was on the phone with them, sorry should’ve said that part.
