Default 05 GX470 non-nav stereo replacement

So yeah
Bought this near mint about a week ago and immediately decided upgrade was in need.
I'll first say that for a 13 year old vehicle the stock stereo sounded awesome and amazingly still worked flawless without any blown speakers or dead amps.
(just a fyi - part out if anyone needs some replacements)

So working from the rear towards the front it only took a couple hours and about 4 tools to take it completely apart.
Impact Drill with phillips bit and 3/8" socket adapter makes quick work of all the screws and bolts. ( sizes of sockets were _______) I'll edit later
Panel popper w a 90 degree pick tool plus a shop vac takes care of the rest.
Once the carpets are out the mighty bissell took care of the old lady's coffee spills and hair of a mini white dog I assumed she owned.

Next up waiting on Amazon to deliver some parts plus this kit ( http://www.spiralinstallations.com/KT-LX002B )
Looks good so far but I had to do some sanding on it to allow push and release of some of the AC buttons.
Thank god i guess I was painting it all to match the rest of the trim I'm refinishing.
So as of right now 4 guage is ran and parts are primed and or painted.

btw this DAP is awesome for plastic welding (only had 2 ac tabs that were kinda brittle halfway break!)

Looks great so far. What colour are you painting the wood bits? My mechanic said I should do the same. So watching this thread with interest.

Guys have had great results wrapping or hydrodipping the trim pieces in these things. So jealous of your non-nav, makes things so much easier!

Do you have a solution to the integrated HVAC that you'd like to share with the group?

not 100% positive but if someone would show the back of the nav unit or wherever the actual hvac plugs are id almost bet that the harness is the same (ie the navy isnt controlling the ac) so prob the plugs are identical that plug into either unit
therefore buy the aftermarket dash kit from spiral audio and ac brain/unit for the non navy lexus from their parts or just find one in a junk yard gx

These trucks have been around for 15 years now, and I've yet to see anyone convert a nav-equipped truck to non-nav. Many have talked about it, nobody has done it. It's been quite a while since I looked into it, but I believe you have to change the harness in the dash as well.

I guess it's just really lucky that you found a non-nav truck to start with, lol.

I just purchased a 2004 non-NAV. I'm looking to change the stereo interface to a screen so that I can add some modern features (Bluetooth, Aux, Rear Camera, etc); is this a bad idea?
