Has anybody here replaced 85535-60050 "cover, power outlet" (in the console) ?
Problem on the new-to-me 2004 GX470: the flip cover for the power outlet in the console was broken in half, and the wire spring dislodged - I got the new black plastic housing assembly that includes the lid from the dealer: #85525-60050
So far I have been able to do the following without having to take off trim pieces:
- persistent pulling on the metal socket eventually dislodged it from the electrical connector below, but you cannot pull that up before you also remove the plastic housing
- which requires a small screwdriver and lack of regard for the two plastic tabs that will most certainly get destroyed (I didn't mind since the lid and hinge were kaputt anyway)
- then I was able to pull up the wire/connector and thread it through the new housing; the new housing popped right into the space
- the difficult part comes now:
- the black plastic cylinder is so tight that the electrical connector, once connected to the metal socket again, barely wants to go back through the cylinder with both metal tabs aligned just right
- with much persuasion, I got it halfway in - I think another determined whack will get the metal seated again (there's a tiny 4mm wide and barely a half mm high tab in the plastic housing cylinder I need to get past), but the space is so awkward that I can hardly get a hammer in there, even with the ashtray removed
anybody have some advice ?

with some more persuasion by my two thumbs, it's now perfectly seated - it helped to have the old black holder to see how the tabs on the inside of the cylinder line up
what a PITA overall
