Default A T Oil Temp light on - car won't run

Pulling in to my driveway tonight on my trusty 110K mile GX and the car shut down. I restarted it and it shut down again, with a red light showing AT Oil Temp on (top left of the dash). Any thoughts on this ?

Thanks

Edit -- my A/T fluid level seems fine. And two other light are on: battery and engine oil light. Some google searches show this may be a bad alternator?

Could be alternator, yeah. If you're close to Secaucus NJ, I can swing by with a jump pack and multimeter and look at it for you.

Thanks. I have a trusted indy close by and will bring it there. Will let the group know.

Today I went to start it and it was having a tough time turning over, like the battery was dying (battery is a year old). So most likely the alternator.

That does seem likely. Put a multimeter on the battery terminals when the engine is idling - it should be well above 13 volts. If not, the alternator is toast.

Thanks. Car was towed to a nearby indy. They do great work on my BMW. Hoping to have it back shortly!

So - was it the alternator? Had mine go bad few weeks ago too and had to get it towed. 3 hrs and $410 bucks later it was fine.

Fuel pump died! 110K miles on it. about $450 for the part (OEM) and $300 in labor. Should have it back in a day or so (maybe Tuesday due to the holidays).
