Default Ceika big brake kit,,,, anyone???

I am so over the seizing calipers, i have my 3rd set in 160k miles, with the last set installed in the spring and one caliper is already sticking again!

Short of dumping this damn thing, thinking a big brake kit is an option to consider. Not about to pay what Stop Tech wants for thwir kit.

Came across this Ceika kit. Does anyone have any experience with this kit?

What symptom did you have when you have a seizing calipers. I don't think I ever have one at 130k.

Mine is also on it’s 3rd set at 165k. Another option is upgrading to GX460 calipers, pads, and rotors. You can use your 470 calipers as cores on the 460 calipers.

Never mind, after some research it appears that despite the company marketing these kits as a direct bolt on kit, there fitment issues followed up by poor customer service, to include the owner refusing to accept returns/refunds on kits that did not fit. Read the BMW and corevette forums..

if you guys are interested, we can look into developing a BBK for the gx470/460. I own one so it’s not a problem to test and fit. We would most likely use Wilwood 6 piston calipers, not sure about rotor options yet.

Yeah I want to upgrade please keep me informed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please use quality rotors and pads, Akebono's as a suggestion! Rotors that dont warp, I bought Pep Boys "best" choice they warped on the test drive! Then they found a set of Bosch, no complaints, but I been using Akebono on all my vehicles, they perform and last!!!

Highly interested. Wilwood would be awesome on the GX.

Hi Everyone,

We completed testing on our GX470 6 piston brake upgrade kit. We have the parts in production and will post final pricing soon.

Specs are:

(1) Wilwood Aero 6 calipers featuring forged aluminum construction and stainless steel pistons
(2) CNC machined 6061-T6 adapter brackets
(3) Wilwood BP20 pads -- temperature capability of over 400F greater than any pad available for the stock GX470 calipers
(4) Stoptech GX460 Brake rotors (a full 1.25" thick, versus stock 1.1" thick rotors). Other options availalbe (EBC slotted rotors).
(5) Optional stainless steel brake lines.
(6) Available either anodized finish with Wilwood logo, or custom powder coated colors with RR-Racing logo.

We have had the calipers on our shop GX470 all winter with lots of salt on the streets here in PA this year, and no signs of corrosion. Stock calipers are cast iron with steel pistons, so basically everything on them corrodes which is why it is so common for them to seize.

Some pics:

A much needed upgrade. Looking forward to final details. Maybe because I live in central CO driving down mountain passes, but I have always thought the stock brakes are not adequate given the size/weight of the GX. Thanks RRRacing.
