Default Wife's 2006 GX470 has ghost

Started a few days ago. Went to a wedding. When we were leaving, the GX470 would crank then die, crank then die. I turned off the air, it cranked and ran. Then turned the air on and all was fine. The VSC lights and check engine light were all on....and still are. Got home and tested cranking with the same results. It will not stay cranked if the a/c is on at the time of ignition, but is fine if you turn on a/c after it is running. Also I found that when you drive normal (acceleration) all is good, BUT if you do a hard acceleration, it bogs around 4000 rpms, drops to 2000 then slowly tries to increase. It has never done this before either. Car looks new and runs like a top except for whatever this is. Bought it new. SUV has been meticulously cared for by me and has 160k on it. Never in an accident or water or salt (Alabama) and no 3rd party accessories added. Things I have tried: Took to Advance Auto and they said it had 9 codes. One said ECC and rest said MAF. I have tried tightening then replacing gas cap, cleaned MAF sensor, checked for cracks in air flow tube from air filter, checked ALL fuses. I have searched various threads and tried everything I have found. What am I missing? This has to be something simple!!!

I would start with a new MAF sensor if I had 8 codes that related to MAF--easy enough to change out

I too would swap the MAF. But I'd also look at the battery & alternator - low voltage can cause the ECU to throw lots of strange codes.

I would check battery first.

Your drive belt tensioner is shot, pull on the belt when engine is cool, a lot of play?

Thanks for all of the replies. Here's what I did. I also have a 2005 Tundra which had the same MAF. I swapped it to the wife's GX470 and disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes. Reconnected, cranked it, NO lights and did not die. I drove it down the road a piece and accelerated hard and it did not loose power. All is good. So just because I cleaned the MAF, in fact, it is bad. Looks like I will order a new one. Thanks again everyone.

Thanks for letting us know, following up. Glad you got it working. I had the same issues from my tensioner, especially when everything was on. The dealership I am taking to court couldnt figure it out. They replaced my ac compressor, I didnt pay for it, so im happy
