Is this odd sound coming from fan clutch or elsewhere?
Hey guys, I am hearing this strange sound from my gx470 for about a year, even with AC turned off. The sound can be hear when in idle regardless if engine is cold or hot. I can also hear it slightly inside cabin when car is driven. Other than this, I don't notice any performance problem. Engine temperature looks the same before issue started.
I just recently had a timing belt job done, with 215K+ miles on it. While at it, I had my dealer replaced alternator, T-belt idler pulley, H20 pump, T-belt tensioner,Thermostat, radiator(had pin hole leak), Crank seal, Serpentine belt tensioner, serpentine belt. Thinking that after the job, the sound would go away. But it did not.
I try to manually spin the fan but it does NOT move freely. I feel resistance. The fan probably move about 30-35 degrees(~quarter turn) and stopped. Is that normal for a healthy fan clutch?
Any idea what else could be causing that sound? How to go about in isolating it? Thanks for any tips!
I've attached a sound file as well.
