Default GX 470 is the new 80 series

This guy has some incredible build & overland videos. I highly recommend one look further into his YouTube channel. He has done extensive overlanding in Africa and Australia. He was recently in the NW US and MetalTech loaned him a 470.

Yes talked about how it was impractical because of terrible gas mileage and a small tank...

I thought he was pretty kind to the GX as a platform, comment of 10MPG and inability to overcome that withstanding. The whole bit with the MetalTech products, though, he questioned their thought process, experience, etc. The only redeeming quality he had to say about them is that they were receptive to his input. I have no place to judge the hinge/latch of the tire carrier (it probably would work fine for the 95% percent of people not using their rigs for exclusive overlanding use, myself included) but the option of an external USB port on the rear bumper is...curious.

I appreciate the honesty; thought it must be tough to lend someone a testbed vehicle and have them, in essence, rip it to shreds.

If you're reading this, Metal Tech - the Glock sticker on the fuel door is a bit cheesy.
