Driving the GX on Outer Banks NC beaches!!!
All memorial week my grandson, wife and I will be enjoying driving on remote beaches to play in the sand!
Based on the responses to my previous thread on corrosion I coated the undercarriage with 2 spray cans of Fluid Film, a lanolin oil based product.
It looks good and is said to prevent rust and corrosion, my main goal.
I expect it to collect dirt and sand so when i get home I will use the lawn sprinkler that sprays back and fourth to rinse it off.
I will lower the pressure of the tires to about 18 psi. With scattered thunderstorms, driving on wet sand from a passed storm has even better traction.
Ill add pictures and updates to this thread.
Here is the GX we're taking and where I'm driving to...
Chao!

The Point of the Outer Banks, Buxton NC
I can check "Driving to the Point" off my bucket list.
It's amazing out there.
I ran through a field of ankle deep ocean like a kid on coffee!
A week at the OBX.

I don't know how this post got put in here!
Finally brought the GX in for the side airbag recall. This was the first time the GX has been to Lexus for servicing since I bought the truck back in 2013. The work was done at Lexus of Highland Park (northern suburb of Chicago) The whole process took about 90 minutes. The dealer washed the truck, scrubbed the Weathertech floor mats, and filled up the gas tank (about 10 gallons!). Starbucks coffee and bagels with cream cheese. A good dealer experience.
BTW: They have a near clone of my GX on their used car lot. Overpriced for sure!
