Default Wife locked the key in truck

My wife locked the Master key in the truck tonight -04 GX (the one an only key) and I'm assuming I can have a duplicate made at the locksmith if I provide the VIN Hope this doesn't sound too stupid but will this allow me to manually unlock the door? Just a little concerned as the immobilizer prevented roadside assistance from opening the door latch or the lock from the inside with the Jimmy he was using

Thanks

There's three parts to the key. There's the blade itself which will get you in the driver's door using the keyway in the handle. There's the remote transmitter which lets you skip that whole 1970's key-in-the-door thing. And the immobilizer chip which tells the computer the key is authorized so it's ok to run the fuel pump & engine.

So yes, if you just want to open the doors, all you need is a properly cut blade. Pretty much any locksmith should be able to duplicate your existing key cut.

Thanks for the reply,

I stopped at the dealer after dropping the wife off at work this a:m, they were right up the street so it was convenient and they cut a new blade for $55.00 maybe could have gotten it done cheaper but also made an appointment for the side airbag recall and they're also ordering a new dash for me as well even though mine appears to be fine, you never know what might happen down the road

The immobilizer chip and the remote transmitter are within the key fob which can be removed from the key body. I had a blade cut from eBay with key code and reused the key fob because of the broken plastic key cover.
