Default Fog lights as DRLs?

I'm not a fan of the yellow bulbs for the daytime running lights. Has anyone wired the fog lights to work as the drls and disabled the drl function of the yellow flasher/drl lights? I don't have any need of fog lights.

You can replace the amber bulbs with clear. IIRC, they're 1156's
Not sure if the vehicle code mandates amber turns on the front, but it's unlikely anyone knows/cares.

Has anyone used the switchback LEDs? The ones that stay white but switch to amber when flashing? That may be my solution.

The switchback bulbs I bought just light up amber and yellow at the same time. Might just be cheap ones, I would make sure they actually are made to do that.

Good advice. I'm looking as a pair from superbrightleds. The description says they work the way I want.

If the bulb is 1156, it's a single contact bulb, therefore there would be no switchback options for it. What you're looking for is a totally custom function/headlights.

Thanks for the input. I see you resell Diode Dynamics bulbs. The have a 1157 HP24 switchback bulb that looks like a direct replacement. Am I missing something?

Confirmed as a 1156.

https://www.osram-americas.com/en-us/applications/automotive-lighting-systems/Pages/lrgallbulbs.aspx?year=2004&qual=&model=2132&make=68

The "A" suffix indicates amber. And this is a single-contact bulb, so no way to separate the DRL function from the turn function. And since that is controlled by the computer, an upgrade is effectively not possible.

Thanks Chip. I looked at the base of the 1156 and the 1157. I see what you're talking about.
