Got the Android system yesterday. It’ll be dropped off today and my mechanic will install it.

A couple of photos

I didn't but I just texted my mechanic and if it hasn't been installed yet he'll take a photo of the back. I'll update once he gets back to me. It should be ready today.

Photos. He’s working on the camera interface and if all goes well I’ll get the thumbs up by the end on the day.

Another quick update. Looks like it's going to work. He had a problem with the camera connectivity but got it figured out. The install was not straight forward and no instructions were provided. I'm going to talk to the seller about this. However my mechanic was able to get it done. He's going to give me install details and I'll post them up here with props to Riyad at Riworx. His initial impression is that the system is very good and likes it a lot. He's going to keep it over night for further testing and I should be able to pick it up tomorrow.

That’s great news! I am excited to hear from you once you have the vehicle back and can put it thru it’s paces. Do you know if the ac controls, climate controls work along with the steering wheel controls?

Hi all,

Great news!! Everything works. All controls like AC / climate and steering wheel controls work. The one thing that wasn't straight forward was the rear camera but my mechanic, Riyad form Riworx, did a work around and was able to get it working. I'll be picking up the GX today after work and I'll test it out myself over the next few weeks or so and I'll post my results. Riyad will get his install notes and what was needed to get the rear camera going and I'll post that up too.

I also had my timing belt replaced while it was in the shop 112K miles, along with the water pump, tensioner and all fluids like rear diff, trans, and engine oil and the cabin filter. It didn't have a hitch so I purchased a Curt hitch and I tried to install it but due to the age of the vehicle I found it next to impossible. So the guys at the shop did it for me. As above they also installed and tested the new Android system to replace the old navigation and controls unit.

Now I have a like new 2003 GX470. Priceless!!

If anyone needs info on where to purchase just let me know. I purchased the unit from DLC Store on AliExpress. See photos above for part number but if you search AliExpress for GX470 Android you should be able to find it. Just be careful to order the one I did. There are other vendors with similar units but its unknown if they work or not. This one is pretty much plug and play. DLC pre test the unit before they ship it. So it doesn't get shipped right away. It took about a week before they shipped it but then it came within 4 days of shipping via DHL and was free shipping to Canada.

Good luck.

Wow, if this ends up being legit on all controls, this is great news for a lot of us. Please keep us updated, and maybe a video on CC controls, funtionality etc.?

I'll see about the video. Not sure if I can upload a video here or not. But I can tell you if my mechanic says it all works it does. He knows these vehicles very well and the GX470 is one of his favourites. I'm actually surprised I'm getting my GX back!!

Now if someone with an 07 with Nav will do this so I can pull the trigger knowing it’s plug and play for the 07s too
Congtats on getting it all going!

My worries are that Lexus changed the A/V setup at least one time thru the years.
It’s to my understanding that there are 3 generations of nav/stereo in the gx470.
What works for a 03 will not work for my 07.

I’m not sure what amp it is. The seller says the unit will work from 04-09. Mines an 03 so it works in it too. Why don’t you be the brave one and try it? What’s to lose? Your old Nav / Audio system you don’t like? I bought my GX470 just before Christmas and I pulled the trigger on the Android unit even before I joined Clublecus and found this thread. Live a little. Good things come to those who act. Sidelines are...well the sidelines.
