Default Can't get license plate light to stay in

I'm in the process of replacing license plate bulbs. I broke the old housing for one of the bulbs so I bought new LED lights on eBay and they came with the housing. The problem is, I can't get the cover to stay clipped in to the tailgate. Any advice on how to get the lights to stay in? What am I doing wrong?

Probably a cheap knock-off. Buy a Lexus OEM housing.

Sometimes eBay parts are fine. Sometimes they're not.

It looks exactly like the OEM housing (minus the OEM housing having the broken clip).

This is for a 2004 - you should put your year in at the top just in case they changed the design at some point.

{Year} -> GX470 -> 4700CC 32-valve -> 5-Door -> Entertainment, Audio, Electronics -> Rear License Plate Lamp

Awesome, thanks! The shipping cost is pretty high for a small piece. Maybe I'll try using double sided 3M tape to get it to stay.

You could heat the tab a little. Bend it out some more. Let it cool. Then install.
