Default Timing belt replacement parts?

I just bought a really nice one owner 2005 GX470 with about 71000 kms (45000 miles). From the many, many threads I have read it seems I should replace the timing belt due to age. I have read some threads that recommend doing just the basic belt, water pump at 90k miles and doing a major with tensioner, idler pulley etc at 180k. I would like to buy a kit in advance of tear down, question is do I buy the complete Aisin kit for about $400 or the basic parts for about $200. I realize the parts requirements might change when I get in there however would like to hear from any experienced folks what theyvthink. Thanks.

I just did my timing belt kit in December. Got all the parts for under $200 on Amazon. I think this is the one you need. Read the reviews. I know it work for me and my budget.

IMHO it's overkill to open the front of the engine before you hit the 90K miles mark. When you do the belt do the entire kit. Don't piece it out and skip stuff.

Yeah I don't really want to do it but age wise the belt is around 11 years old....

Go ahead and do crank seal and thermostat and drive belt while you are in there.

Does Toyota/Lexus list a age service interval? I don't think so. The belt is protected from light and grease. It's designed to last a Loong time. I would guess the water pump will leak on a low mileage older age car way before the belt would give out. Then you would be in there anyway so you would change the belt at the same time.

Sounds like you feel you need too,so do it I guess. I am in the process of buying a 06. It's 10 years old and has another 10k before it hits the service interval. I am not worried about the next year or so on that truck in the least.

I had a 06 Tundra. I did that belt in 2010. What a job that was. Same engine btw.

Lexus manual says 90k or 9 years for the timing belt. Otherwise I would be real happy to leave it ☺

So do that then. I was just searching for that as well. I could not find my old manual.

But once you open the front do it all. Radiator fluid, thermostats, all of the stuff recommended.

Im getting ready to do this also for the same reasons. I just bougth a 2004 that has 74k on it. Radiator has started leaking so thats going to be replaced along with upper and lower hoses. Here is a link to another kit that has the t stat, fan belt, camshaft and crankshaft seals. Might consider doing them all while ur in there? Best of luck!
