Has anybody installed this in their GX-470... I have always used them in all my cars and trucks.. I ordered the F-103 M12X1.25 and went to install it. It threaded on the first couple threads and then stopped...did not want to force it...tried a couple times and decided to re-install the OEM drain plug...thought maybe they sent the wrong one ...I verified the size on Fumoto’s web site and it is the correct size for 09 GX-470. Guess I’ll try again next oil change. The threads look fine on the valve itself and the plug went right back in as always with my fingers.

any damage to the oem plug to indicate a thread issue on the pan?

naw...I have changed the oil several times..screws right in by hand.. I probably just needed to put a wrench on it but, did not to booger up the threads until I double checked I received the correct one...now that I’m sure its the correct one I will install it next oil change. don’t want to waste 6 Qts of new oil. Thanks

That is exactly what I have installed on my GX. I just checked order records, and my valve is the F103N (nipple type) 12mm-1.25

I remember when I installed it, everything went very smooth. No hesitation, no issues at all. So it might be the threads on the pan. Try using a 12mm-1.25 tap screw just to clear any bad threads on it. Basically to "renew" the threads.

Coincidentally, today for the first time I did my oil change with the valve installed. It takes a while to drain, but no mess, no need to remove the rear skid plate, etc.

yeah.. its a little slower to drain 6 qts.. but, 'it sure is not messy anymore.. a warm engine will drain faster.

i am always afraid that the level will someone open with i hit a bump or something.

I bought mine with a safely clip. Can't open it until you remove it. And even then it's spring loaded

i've had mine on another car for over 10 years..no issues of it opening. I dont see an issue on a GX because the drain pan is covered. If you are nervous and want peace of mind, you can always drill a small hole in the lever and secure it with safety wire.

Great product for relatively mess free oil changes.

Is the thread longer than the oil pan width? If so, that means there are oil that is underneath the drain hole of the fumoto plug that will never get drain (mainly concern of heavy particles that sits at the bottom). Hope that made sense.

I can't speak for the toyota oil pans but on the subaru oil pans there are about 2-3 threads that sit off the bottom. Most of the heavy particles should be caught by your oil filter.

For those worrying of draining every last drop, some folks file a v shaped notch or dremel a short cut in those exposed threads to allow drainage. Or you can simply spin off the drain valve on alternate oil changes just as you would a regular plug.
