Default What's this noise? Need your help.

Hello, I am a long time lurker of this forum but finally had to make an account because I can't tell what the noise is that's coming from my car.

2003 GX470
120k miles

All maintenance is up to date and it had its major service a few months ago (<1,000 miles). I sent the car to my wife as she finishes up the last few months of med school in Omaha, so the video is shot after a short drive in pretty cold temperatures. It is stored in a climate controlled garage everyday.

Thanks for your advice!

Sounds like normal exhaust contractions while the metal is cooling down. Nothing to worry about.

Yup, just things like heat shields contracting as they cool down, nothing to be concerned with.

Sounds like most of my cars, not to mention the baseboard heating in the house, LOL.

Thanks for the quick reply everyone! I've never heard this on my other cars, but I suppose its warmer in California. Thought it was the transfer case initially.

Also, really glad I logged on here because I noticed the dashboard recall thread. My GX dash cracked a long time ago and I confirmed with Lexus of America that I'll be getting a free replacement sometime in Spring!!
