Question for those with the OEM chrome exhaust tip
Just picked up a GX this weekend, and the previous owner installed a stainless Gibson exhaust tip. I'd leave it on, if it weren't for the fact that it sticks out way too far.
I tried to loosen it up and slide it on further, since there's plenty of room on the exhaust pipe, but no luck. It seems that the tip and the exhaust pipe have become one with each other over the years, and it's not budging.
It looks like I'm going to have to cut it off and clamp on a new tip. I'd like to use the OEM Lexus / Toyota one, but I need to know how long it is. I don't want to end up with the opposite of the problem I have now.
Can someone who has one tell me how long it is please? Also, do you see any reason why it wouldn't work with a few inches of the exhaust pipe cut off?
Thanks in advance for the info.

Mine sticks out just past the bumper lip (not the part another car would hit - the part where it curls under). Maybe 1cm.
I wouldn't cut off the exhaust, as then there's nothing to protect the bumper from the hot gasses.
My OEM one is dirty, and would take a lot of effort to clean up - if yours is easy to clean, I'd keep it.

I don't plan on cutting the exhaust and leaving it short of the bumper. My plan was to cut it and add a tip, which would extend out to the correct point. (Like yours, just past the bumper)
Leaving it alone isn't an option, since the one that is one there sticks out far enough that you would hit your leg on it....it has to go.
I believe that the factory tip probably slides over the exhaust pipe by several inches. In my case, it would only slide on by an inch or two if that makes sense.

I think you're gonna have a problem cutting off the old tip. Probably not enough pipe left to mount a stock tip.
You might try cutting a slit in the outer layer and working some penetrating lube in. Maybe several slits.
The stock tip is 9 3/16" long. The the center of the mounting clamp is 1 1/2" from the rear of the tip, You'd need the cut exhaust pipe to extend at least 2" inside the new tip. Check and see if that will work.
