Front or rear springs?

If you're talking about front, unless you want to lift your GX and or install a metal bumper w/ or w/o a winch you don't need to change the front springs.

If you're talking about the rear and want to switch from airbags to coil springs, unless your shop is giving you a deal since you're having them replace all of the shocks, no it won't save you any money in labor since they airbags are separate from the shocks...

I see. Then it makes sense to stay with the airbags until one fails. Which coil springs should I go with?

And based on your response, I understand that the front springs don't need replacing?

There's a member here that used some aftermarket spring from Rockauto??? and didn't mess w/ the front at all. Forgot who. Maybe they will chime in.

Not unless you want to lift it.

@RCsGX

Based on the parts pic, it looks like the spring actually goes over the shock on the front. So you're certain there's no benefit to replacing the front springs simultaneously with the shocks? Granted the springs will cost another $200, but the labor is being performed anyway. No idea how long these springs last or how they wear.

EDIT:
Just got a labor estimate for the front, and it's actually cheaper by $50 to install the whole assembly, so the net cost is another $150. I'm told the front will run higher for a while, however, so perhaps will go ahead with the rear coil conversion kit.

Best solution for the rear conversion? I don't want to lift it, and want the smoothest ride possible.
